Vietnam's Visa Rules Have Changed

| Words by Ellena Johnstone |

Visa rules for British nationals visiting Vietnam have changed. Find out how.

The Good News

Effective from 1st July 2015, travellers from the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy will no longer need a visa to enter Vietnam for stays of up to 15 days, in a move that will run until 30th June 2016. This fantastic announcement means that travellers from these five nations will be able to explore all that Vietnam has to offer without the usual form-filling and fees.

It’s great news for expats too – as long as you hold a passport from one of these countries, you can take advantage of the offer even if you are not currently resident there.

Previously, passport holders from these counties required a visa to visit Vietnam which, for UK residents, could cost up to £95 and involved either a visit to the Vietnamese embassy in London, or sending away passports in the post. For travellers from these European nations spending 15 days or fewer in this magical country, this new ruling makes visiting Vietnam that little bit easier, and less expensive.

For stays of 16 days or more (or for double entry visits) then a visa is still required. You can learn a little more about Vietnam visas and travel advice over here.

Visiting Vietnam just got a little bit easier

What we say

We are delighted that Vietnam is now even easier to visit for British, German, French, Spanish and Italian nationals.

One of the UK’s leading Vietnam travel experts and general manager of Insider Journeys’ UK office, Lesley Wright, had this to say:

“Vietnam continues to be our most popular destination in Asia with more and more travellers joining our journeys each year. With 9 dedicated Vietnam small group tours, and a large number of our travellers joining our 10-day Highlights of Vietnam, 11-day Vietnam Insight or 14-day Vietnam Discovery, this visa change is ideal. We are delighted that it’s now even easier and more affordable for European travellers to explore this incredible and vibrant country.”
